Education is the act or process of educating or being educated. In other words education is the knowledge or skill obtained or developed by a learning process. Education is also a program of instruction of a specific kind. It is the field related to study of anything and everything that deals with study or research. Education in its general sense is a form of learning in which the knowledge, skills, and habits of a group of people are transferred from one generation to the next through teaching, training, or research. Education frequently takes place under the guidance of others. Education is commonly divided into stages such as preschool, primary school, secondary school and then college, university. Education is about teaching and learning skills and knowledge. Education also means helping people to learn how to do things and encouraging them to think about what they learn. It is also important for educators to teach ways to find and use information. Education is the development of individual according to his needs and demands of society.

In English the term “Education” has been derived from two Latin words Educare and Educatum. “Educare” means to train or mould. It again means to bring up or to lead out from inward to outward. The term “Educatum” denotes the act of teaching. It deals with the practice of teaching.

Education is knowledge or experience as well as it is continues experience.  Education is limitless. We can get education from anywhere and everywhere. It is not that if a person is having a degree only he/she is educated. Any individual having knowledge is said to be educated. Any age group person can be educated or can get education from own or surroundings. Basically, the process of learning is said to be education and we can learn in any age i.e. we can be educated in any age of our life.

Education is a purposeful activity. By education we try to bring certain changes in our lives. Education is an effort and, as such, it has definite aims and objectives. Education without aim is like a boat without its rudder. Aims give direction to our life. Absence of an aim in education makes it a blind. Every stage of human development had some aim of life.
